Alexander Paul Blake, creative mind behind EDEN WEINT IM GRAB, marches to Neotopia and invites his listeners to accompany him on this journey. With 14 new tracks he is glowing like a pocket lamp into the vast darkness of the nether world. Although "Trauermarsch Nach Neotopia" is not a concept album in its classical sense the subject matter death is present in all of the songs and pervades the album like mortality pervades life. The lyrics are powerfully eloquent and rich in imagery and can be seen in the tradition of such epochs like Romanticism, Symbolism or Surrealism. "Weltgeheimnis" is like an echo to Hugo von Hofmannsthal's poem of the same name, "An Die Nacht" stands in the tradition of Novalis and is an ode to Romanticism and in "Undine" Fouqué's enchanting water sprite is chosen to be the tutelary spirit par excellence - a symbol for desired muliebrity. In "Unter Dem Eis" and "Durch Sturm Und Äonen" however the dead raise their voice from the other side, whereas in "Krieg Im Wunderland" the orgiastic energy of the cosmos has been put into a truly moving opener. Our transitoriness is being illuminated from several sides and regarded with an ironic wink. Thus general scene clichés are being avoided. In spite of sometimes pitch black, nihilistic lyrics at the end the presentiment prevails that birth and death are only two stations of a much bigger journey. EDEN WEINT IM GRAB are doing this lifelong march to Neotopia, this new utopia, with great eloquence and poetic magic which is truly a rarity in the gothic scene.

In the year 2000 EDEN WEINT IM GRAB's protagonist Alexander Paul Blake already recorded a first demo called "A Celebration In Black" as Dark Pride Retaliation. But due to the poor sound quality this demo was never released. The project was buried soon afterwards and it took long for it to resurge from the grave in 2004, this time with the promising name EDEN WEINT IM GRAB (German for "Eden is crying in the grave", the abbreviation "ewig" means "eternal") and with German lyrics. The official debut album "Traumtrophäen Toter Trauertänzer" has been produced and performed by Alexander Paul Blake in his Winter Solitude Studio reclusively and only the bass guitar has been played by Sebastian Schult (Ex-Atrocity, Ex-From Thy Ashes). Subsequently E.w.i.G. chose an unconventional way on purpose and put the whole album and artwork online for free download to receive the broadest possible publicity and not to drown as a newcomer in the huge mass of new releases. The plan succeeded and till today the songs of EDEN WEINT IM GRAB have been downloaded more than 60.000 times alone at www.mp3.de. Motivated by the great responses and euphoric reactions Alexander Paul Blake returned to his studio in Berlin to create the successor "Trauermarsch Nach Neotopia".

This album has been produced by Alexander Paul Blake alone again - mostly at night, with candles burning and a lot of red wine. At least that's what you can presume listening to the gloomy mix of Gothic, Death- and Black-Metal with some electronic particles, that resists successfully against stereotyped thinking. The 14 hymns of deathly tragedy unite reflective and melancholic moods with aggressive and morbid moments to an emotional and deep-going sound. And howsoever you categorise it, in any case the name EDEN WEINT IM GRAB stands for music with fantasy which will quicken your imagination and carry your thoughts to remote worlds. If the journey back into the light, like the title "Heimwärts Ins Licht" suggests, will be successful is solely up to the imaginativeness of the listener.
